Unvolvement of calcium signaling and MAP kinases in lipid taste perception

2013

In this work, we demonstrate that stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1), a sensor of Ca2+ depletion in the endoplasmic reticulum, mediates fatty acid–induced Ca2+ signaling in the mouse tongue and fat preference. We showed that linoleic acid (LA) induced the production of arachidonic acid (AA) and lysophosphatidylcholine (Lyso-PC) by activating multiple phospholipase A2 isoforms via CD36. This activation triggered Ca2+ influx in lingual CD36-positive taste bud cells (TBCs) purified from mouse CVP. LA also induced the production of Ca2+ influx factor (CIF). STIM1 was found to regulate LA-induced CIF production and the opening of store-operated Ca2+ (SOC) channels. Furthermore, CD36-positive…

Modification of the lipidic and coagulative pattern in postmenopause women: effect of hormone replacement therapy.

2010

AIM: We evaluated the changes of lipidic and coagulative pattern during menopause and the influence of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on these parameters. METHODS: We considered 158 patients divided into 2 groups: Group I consisted of 127 women in physiological/surgical menopause and Group II of 31 women with childbearing potential. Subsequently, we considered a group III formed of 34 patients from menopausal women (group I) who underwent three months of HRT. We evaluated total-cholesterol (TC), HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), lipoprotein (a) (Lpa), fibrinogen, antithrombin III (ATIII), factor VII (FVII) and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI). Etude des mécanismes physiologiques et moléculaires permettant la prise en charge des substrats hydrophobes par la levure Yarrowia lipolytica au nive…

2012

Yarrowia lipolytica can grow on many hydrophobic substrates and metabolize them via the β-oxidation pathway or store them into lipid bodies. The first contact between the cell and the hydrophobic substrates is by the cell wall. In this step, cell-wall proteins (CWP), β-glucane and chitin of the cell wall could play an important role for the adhesion and uptake of hydrophobic substrates. The aim of this work was to study the effect of a hydrophobic carbon source (compared with glucose) and the culture medium composition on the cell wall composition and the melanin production by Y. lipolytica. The results of our biochemical and molecular analysis showed that the presence of methyl oleate and …

Determination of fatty acids and lipid classes in salmon oil by near infrared spectroscopy

2017

International audience; Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was evaluated as a rapid method for the determination of oleic, palmitic, linoleic and linolenic acids as well as omega-3, omega-6, and to predict polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids, together with triacylglycerides, diglycerides, free fatty acids and ergosterol in salmon oil. To do it, Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression models were applied to correlate NIR spectra with aforementioned fatty acids and lipid classes. Results obtained were validated in front of reference procedures based on high performance thin layer and gas chromatography. PLS-NIR has a good predictive capability with relative root mean squar…

Modulation of the Biological Activity of a Tobacco LTP1 by Lipid Complexation

2004

Plant lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) are small, cysteine-rich proteins secreted into the extracellular space. They belong to the pathogenesis-related proteins (PR-14) family and are believed to be involved in several physiological processes including plant disease resistance, although their precise biological function is still unknown. Here, we show that a recombinant tobacco LTP1 is able to load fatty acids and jasmonic acid. This LTP1 binds to specific plasma membrane sites, previously characterized as elicitin receptors, and is shown to be involved in the activation of plant defense. The biological properties of this LTP1 were compared with those of LTP1-linolenic and LTP1-jasmonic acid…
